A Call to Victory

Editorial

July 23, 2007

Tonight, on the CNN YouTube Debate, the various Democratic candidates proposed a dozen different scenarios for pulling our troops out of Iraq. The voices of surrender echoed across this great and mighty nation like a dirge on a sullen street. It was both depressing and demoralizing to watch.

But tonight a different wind blows in this quarter – the Call and Spirit of Victory. Playing on the words of Winston Churchill’s “We shall fight them on the beaches” speech, I have this to say to those who do not know the power of God who watches over this nation:

We shall go on to the end – we shall fight in Iraq, we shall fight in Afghanistan and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, and we shall defend America the Great, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing zones, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets; we shall fight in the hills, and we shall never surrender. Never. Never, never, under any circumstances, ever surrender.

We are the sons and daughters of the Revolutionary Patriots who in the midst of a cold and dreary winter in Valley Forge, under more dire circumstances, rose up in the strength of Almighty God and eventually secured victory over the most powerful army in the world. The Colors of this nation do not run. They do not succumb to appeasement and they certainly do not run in fear. It is an embarrassment for any red-blooded American to turn tail and run. Let the infidels run. Let them run to their caves, and into their rat-holes. They shall never achieve victory over those who love freedom.

We serve a great and mighty God in America – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – and the Spirit of God is not a Spirit of surrender to evil ideologies. Our brave fighting men and women overseas daily spill their blood for the freedom of the Iraqis, and to protect our nation. We honor them, and we honor their heroic service when we honor their cause – the cause of liberty and victory over the enemies of freedom. We do not honor a call to surrender or retreat. A thousand may fall at our sides, ten thousand at our right hand, but with Almighty God as our Rock and Fortress we shall persevere until the ultimate, inevitable victory is ours.

And so tonight, we call on those Americans who are the true watchmen on the walls. Those who know the price of victory and the cost of liberty. Rise up, America. Stand strong in the face of adversity. Do not listen to the timid. Do not indulge their message of retreat and surrender. For we know that we do not stand alone.

As John Fitzgerald Kennedy once remarked:

“And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge—and more.”

So Help Us God.

Electorate can show true colors in YouTube debate

July 23, 2007

CHARLESTON, South Carolina (CNN) – Democratic presidential candidates will face a new kind of questioning Monday night when queries for their debate come straight from America’s living rooms via YouTube.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who will moderate the debate from Charleston, South Carolina, says the video questions submitted to the YouTube Web site will showcase the electorate as much as the eight Democrats vying for the 2008 nomination.

For starters, CNN journalists are screening the questions, rather than letting Internet users select them with their votes.

Story

Opinion:

<Somehow I have reservations about how tough and pointed the questions will be, considering it’s CNN screening them. Sounds like a fluff-ball, pro-Dem, Ted Turner rally in the making.
